Pellet Stove Glass for Hospitality: Sizing, Spares and Replacement

by Flamesa on Jul 31, 2026

For hospitality venues running outdoor pellet heaters across a terrace, glass is the one consumable that decides how a setup looks every evening. A cracked or heavily sooted glass tube takes a heater out of service, and in a hotel or restaurant setting that is immediately visible to guests. The good news: the glass is a separate spare part, and keeping a small stock on site turns a broken tube into a five minute swap instead of a lost heater.

Why glass belongs in your spare parts stock

Across a fleet of heaters, glass damage is almost always mechanical: wind, staff moving heaters while warm, or a knock during cleaning. Thermal shock from cold water on a hot tube is the second cause. Neither is unusual in a busy venue, which is why operators typically hold at least one spare cylinder per heater size in use, plus a spare glass tube holder.

Specifications

All Flamesa glass cylinders are made of borosilicate glass with a diameter of Ø 10.5 cm and a glass thickness of roughly 2 to 3 mm. Borosilicate has a low thermal expansion, which is what allows it to handle the temperature difference between the flame inside and the cold air outside. Background on the material is available on Wikipedia.

Because the tube is a straight cylinder, it is not brand specific: if height and diameter match, it fits. Always measure the existing tube before ordering, and note the sizes in use per terrace so reordering is straightforward.

Replacement procedure for staff

  1. Take the heater out of service and let it cool down completely.
  2. Remove the top cap or reflector.
  3. Undo the holders and keep the screws together.
  4. Lift the glass out straight, with gloves if it is broken, and clear all shards.
  5. Fit the new cylinder straight into the lower holder without binding.
  6. Refit the holders hand tight and check stability before returning the heater to service.

Cleaning routine that extends glass life

Set a fixed cleaning interval rather than waiting until the glass looks bad. Let the tube cool, use the glass and soot cleaner and rinse with water to avoid streaks. For tall tubes the telescopic cleaning brush keeps the job quick, and the cleaning set covers a full maintenance round. Never use steel wool, abrasives or scrapers: scratches become weak spots and shorten service life. Off season, store heaters dry or use a protective cover.

FAQ for operators

Can our own staff replace the glass?

Yes. It requires a screwdriver, a cold heater and a few minutes. No technician needed.

How many spares should we hold?

That depends on fleet size and how often heaters are moved. Venues that reposition heaters daily typically hold more spares per size.

Do the cylinders fit heaters from other suppliers?

Possibly. The tube is universal as long as height and Ø 10.5 cm diameter match. Measure before ordering.

Can we order glass in volume?

Yes, glass cylinders and spare parts are available through the wholesale range. Contact your account manager for larger quantities.
